Mamila used to be one of the neighborhoods connecting between the Old City and the New City. Today, it is a wide shopping avenue, stretching from Agron junction to the outskirts of Jaffa Gate. The shops' avenue is actually the only open mall in Jerusalem today, planned by the architect Moshe Safdie. The long construction process, including the hotels, the shopping avenue and the indoors mall was completed in 2009.

The Alrov Mamila shopping avenue is one of the most beautiful shopping venues in Jerusalem and in the country. The stone structures and the unique design create a European atmosphere, and the avenue is strewn with brand-name stores, cafés and restaurants, galleries and various shops, including GAP, a recently purchased USA franchise, and the only GAP branch in Jerusalem.

Visitors will notice that the avenue is decorated with sculptures and various artistic artifacts, part of the changing exhibition presented in the avenue. In addition to the exhibition presented in Alrov Mamilla, the shops and restaurants, the avenue also hosts events and activities for children and the general public during holidays and various Jerusalem Festivals.
