The Jerusalem Artists House
Until recently, The Jerusalem Artists House was the home of the prestigious Bezalel Arts Academy, a desired academic institution for any young Israeli artist, established in 1906 to become the first academic institution in Israel. Its reputation precedes it even today as one of the best academics in Israel, and as a leading school for arts and design.
The design school Bezalel was transferred to The Hebrew University Campus on Mount Scopus, but the walls of the Artists House did not stay bare for long. In the 1960's the Jerusalem Artists House became the official home of the Painters and Sculptors Association of Jerusalem, which turned the place into a successful gallery presenting contemporary Israeli art.
There are seasonal exhibitions, changing every few months, as well as retrospectives of known artists, talented Jerusalem artists, and even artistic collaborations with international artists. The place also houses a restaurant, allowing you to end your visit with a fine meal.
